How the title checker works
Paste a working title and the checker scores it out of 100 against six common best practices: a length that fits on a phone (35 to 60 characters), a number or date, a curiosity word such as "why" or "really", a clear word count, no shouting or stacked exclamation marks, and a clean start. The phone preview shows how your title may be cut off in a list. The score is a guide, not a prediction: nothing replaces a good video and a thumbnail that fits the title. The checker runs entirely in your browser, so your titles are never sent to us.
Questions
How long should a YouTube title be?
Many creators keep it under about 60 characters so it is not cut off on phones, with the key words first.
Should a title include a number?
Numbers and dates make a title feel specific, which tends to be more believable than a vague claim. Use one only when it is true and relevant.
Does a high score mean more views?
No. It means the title follows common good practice. Views also depend on the topic, the thumbnail, the video and luck.
Quick title rules
- Put the most important words first, because phones cut long titles.
- Promise one clear thing, and make sure the video delivers it.
- Pair it with a thumbnail that adds something the title does not say.
